AKMENE BESS PARK 100 MW / 200 MWh
Project overview
Project description
The Akmene BESS Park is a 100 MW / 200 MWh battery energy storage system planned in the Akmenė district. Strategically connected to the 30/330 kV transformer substation, the project ensures a highly cost-effective and technically optimized grid connection point.
Cost-Effective Connection: Due to the direct connection to the 330 kV Litgrid transmission network via a dedicated 330/30/30 kV power transformer, the project minimizes energy transformation losses and leverages high-voltage stability for balancing services. Proximity to the existing substation infrastructure significantly reduces cable routing costs and land acquisition complexities.
Rapid Deployment: The project utilizes BESS technology and a structured implementation timeline that targets full operational status by September 2027. This rapid setup allows the operator to capitalize on the Baltic synchronization with Continental Europe and the growing demand for mFRR and balancing energy markets.
